Heritage Nanyang kopitiam serving kaya toast, soft-boiled eggs, and traditional brews at Clementi Mall.
Toast Box at The Clementi Mall brings the nostalgic charm of a 1960s Nanyang coffee house to the heart of Clementi, serving up the iconic Singapore breakfast trio of crispy kaya toast, runny soft-boiled eggs, and robust traditional coffee.
Part of the BreadTalk Group, this outlet delivers the same consistent quality and vintage-inspired warmth that has made Toast Box a household name across the island.
Beyond the signature breakfast, the menu features local comfort fare including laksa, mee siam, curry chicken with rice, and an assortment of traditional toasts with kaya, peanut, or butter sugar. The aromatic coffee and tea, brewed the traditional way using a sock filter, remain the heart of the experience — a rich, full-bodied cup that pairs perfectly with any dish or stands proudly on its own. For Clementi residents craving an authentic taste of kopitiam heritage, Toast Box at The Clementi Mall delivers it with heart. It is a cup of nostalgia, served warm.

I love Toast Box's kopi, kaya toast, and peanut thick toast. I go regularly. And when they get it right, they get it right! The toast is actually toasted, and the kopi has the right concentration of all its parts. Sadly, more often, they do NOT get it right - the bread is still white, not even warm, forget toasting. The peanut thick toast is sometimes served soggy - again, no toasting. Obviously, this is because they tend to rush and forge that their name is TOAST box. The sitting area is also not to clean. The seats are old, stained, and sometimes sticky too.

Franchise prioritises delivery orders over walk in customers!? People waited 20 minutes just to order, and another 10 to get food. Dirty tables, no staff to clean at peak morning periods 9-10am. Clearly greedy management, I would not recommend supporting them. Either hire more people or cut down on delivery.

I'm wondering if the food has shrunk or the plates have gotten bigger??? I used to get their soft boiled eggs but the egg white was runny and looked more like milk than egg white. Not sure if it was the quality of the eggs they used or the quality of their kitchen staff.

This restaurant chain has a good selection of dishes that represent local cuisine like laksa, toast, nasi lemak, etc. It is conveniently located at level 1 in Clementi Mall but it's rather crowded and small in space.

Curry chicken is probably one of the oldest Cantonese dish that I know. I remember eating like 40 years ago. When I visited Hongkong a few years back I had curry chicken there. The style is distinctly the same with potatoes, tau pok and chicken cooked in curry until it’s soft.
