Customisable Sichuan mala tang with pick-your-own ingredients at Clementi Mall B1.
Gong Yuan Ma La Tang at Clementi Mall, located at B1-28, brings the popular Sichuan mala tang concept to the heart of Clementi, offering a customisable hotpot-by-the-bowl experience where diners select their own ingredients and have them cooked in a signature mala broth.
The brand has quickly become one of Singapore's most popular mala tang chains, known for its fresh ingredient selection and the satisfying, numbing spice of its soup bases. The ingredient spread features a wide variety of vegetables, mushrooms, tofu, meatballs, noodles, and sliced meats, allowing diners to build a bowl tailored to their taste and appetite.
Soup base options range from the fiery signature mala to milder bone broth and tangy tomato, ensuring there is a flavour for every spice tolerance, and the brand's sister concept Gong Yuan Chicken Hotpot has also landed at Clementi Mall for those preferring a shared pot format. Whether you are a mala devotee seeking the full numbing experience or prefer a milder bowl, Gong Yuan Ma La Tang at Clementi Mall lets you have it your way. Pick your ingredients, choose your broth, and savour the warmth.
I recently tried Gong Yuan Ma La Tang at Clementi Mall and found the overall experience quite decent. The ingredients were fresh with a good variety to choose from. However, I found the soup a bit too salty for my taste. The service was quick and efficient. It’s a self-service style where you pick your ingredients and pay by weight.

No one help to arrange the queue for seating, totally disorder.
The mala I order, there is no visible peanut sauce! Only chilly sauce and the chef refused to add more peanut sauce.
Really no taste and expensive price.
Will not come again.

Good stuff! The mala pork bone soup is tasty. It delivers a bit of tingle and enough spice to make you sweat. 🥵

Price is around $15 per pax for a filling dinner! Dined in at this Clementi Mall outlet on a weekday dinner at 6pm, staff were swift in taking orders. I had tried the mala soup and added a “beaten egg” which made the soup super creamy. There’s a condiment bar with free flow kimchi, spring onion, coriander and sesame paste. Would be good if they could add on peanuts as a condiment as well. The food counter (meat and vegetable) area was kept clean with no foul smell that mala places sometimes have, and condiment counter was rather clean. You have to self service from taking your own food to returning your plates etc, but there’s no service charge so definitely reasonable! One point is that I wish the tables were better cleaned though. Because everyone returns their own dishes, the tables aren’t cleaned by staff as frequently. Would recommend getting the potato noodles as that paired really well with the broth. I’d skip on the instant noodles selection the next time. Meat and vegetables were all fresh!

Good soup broth fixed, I tried pickled veg soup and it was quite tasty. They also have a free flow kimchi station which is a plus! Can give it a try if you need an affordable place for soup cravings.
